All roads lead to Tehran
What I fail to hear from the typical talking heads and the shrill appeasement crowd who see things only in terms of US gas prices, is the clear and undeniable ties leading from Tehran through Damascus and directly into the veins of Hezbollah. Larry King asked his Hezbollah sympathizing guest yesterday whether that organization shared responsibility for what was happening and the response is always “we are victims.” Hezbollah has operated with complete impunity within the borders and government offices of Lebanon because Lebanon has neither the spine or the firepower to stop them. At the core is Tehran and hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for anyone who will kill Israelis. There is only one party here who has actually taken the steps to create a two nation solution. The Palestinians are not that party and they never will be. Hezbollah never will be either – whether invited or not.
God speed Israel in eliminating Hezbollah whether they be found in Lebanon, Syria or anywhere else.

I thought every Arab nation and the PA agreed in 2002 to recognize Israel within its 1967 boundaries. If that is not acceptable what is, does anyone know?
I think Tehran’s funding of Hezbollah is a far cry from having operational control, it is sort of like our funding of UNITA or Renamo. Then I have trouble seeing any deaths of innocents as anything other than moral equivocation and nationalism, regardless of any freak of birth.
Why are we even worried about Iran. they don’t have a way to threaten the U.S. They ahve no blue water navy, no strategic missile or bomber force, no boomer subs. We beat Germany and Japan at the same time. Iran is no threat to the U.S.

The question that should be asked here is “what boundaries would the *Palestinians* find satisfactory.” Recent history shows clearly what boundaries are agreeable to Israel. They dragged their own settlers kicking and screaming from those very territories just this year. The question is not about Israel – the question is with Palestinians who are opposed to a 2 nation outcome. So far, it is Israel who has been the only party willing to demonstrably move toward a 2 nation solution.

I used to believe that too. Over time I have shifted from belief to empiricism. I see the humanity of both sides, and I notice that this is an issue beyond reason, and full of equivocation, usually.
I wondered why in heavens name the PA declined the Barak peace offer. Then I got hold of a map that showed the proposed boundary. Did you know that the West Bank would have been permanently cut up into four separate chunks? How could they agree to that?
Having no ethnic or religious affiliation with the two parties, I don’t buy into the myths. Having an interest in History, Politics, Geography, and Military History I could suggest a resolution and some operative principals.
