And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.

Yes Howard – This Is Just Like Vietnam..

…and you are behaving just like the despicable legislators who hobbled our troops then, and wish to do the same today. The Vietnam war had no spine because of hand-wringing milktoasts like you and Pelosi, who had no resolve in hard times.. and yes, Americans died by the thousands because of it. Given those circumstances, we should pull out of Iraq immediately, but for one thing: That stick in the mud called the Bush administration. I remember Rumsfeld in 2003 using the phrase “long, hard slog.” when talking about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Rumsfeld was using this language while pundits and MSM were touting quick victories. You see, Rumsfeld has seen this scenario too, Howard, and I’d venture to say that he sees the bigger picture in a way you never will.

“It is pretty clear that the coalition can win in Afghanistan and Iraq in one way or another, but it will be a long, hard slog.” -Donald Rumsfeld

The problem is that when the far left starts hearing about anything that involves a long, hard slog, or God forbid, resolve, they begin to sweat profusely and pontificate endlessly about things like impending doom and agony of defeat. But – if one of their own should push the red button one sunny day, and accidentally blow up a Chinese embassy, or maybe incinerate a pharmaceutical plant in the far reaches of Africa, that is excusable because it was a quick, easy slog, you see, and no one asks for proof of WMD when you run a quick, easy slog…
