And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.

Peoples’ Farce Nominee

Whenever you get an award that has a title like “Peoples’ Choice” or “Best Picture”, it sort of helps a lot if the people really did choose your movie, and if it really is at least one of the best pictures of the year. Michael Moore’s creation, while admittedly chock full of hype and controversy, hardly qualifies for either of these titles. If there were an academy award for most controversial film, Moore’s film would still lose by at least a smidgen to Gibson’s Passion, since Passion at least ignited the, well, passion of millions around the globe over the most controversial story ever told. I doubt strongly that you could argue, for instance, that the Vatican or Israel got too riled over Fahrenheit in the same way.

I am still plugging the response to Fahrenheit here (Fahrenhype) because it does a wonderful job of showing Fahrenheit for what it really is: Neatly wrapped and highly hyped empty calories. I watched every minute of Fahrenheit and Fahrenhype, and at the end I issued a challenge in October 2004 to my left-leaning friends, but to date, not a single one has stepped up.

So much for the party of diverse opinions and out-of-box thinkers. So – who will be the first to step up?

I will leave a standing challenge here for the first liberal with a verifiable, left-leaning blog to watch and write a review of Fahrenhype. If you’re local to San Diego, I will lend you my own copy of Fahrenhype. If you are not local to San Diego, I will purchase a copy on the net and have it sent to your address FREE OF CHARGE ( 1st blogger only) – The only rules are that said left-leaning blogger must watch both films and review both films side by side. I will even link to your review here so others can have a look at your review. But wait – if you order now, I’ll send you the teflon spatula set AT NO EXTRA COST!!!!

If you are out there today thinking that we actually went to Afghanistan for oil, you owe it to yourself to at least check this out. If you would like to actually hear what some of the people in Moore’s film had to say about being used in his movie, you need to check this out. If you are mildly worried that your endorsement of Fahrenheit might not be the best thing for your credibility – you need to see this film.

Happy blogging!
