Today the President went to see the Pope in Rome. Not sure what the point of that was politically, but of course the Pope told him to bring the troops back right away..and to count his rosary beads at least 100 times. I don’t think the President got the chance to ask the Pope if it was okay to stop a man who was responsible for what is estimated to be millions of deaths of his own people. I can’t remember if the Pope told William Clinton to take his troops out of Kosovo or not. What was the reason we went over there for???…Oh yes, it was to stop some folks from killing thousands of their own people..that’s right.
How ’bout that Jobs Report?
Anyhoo – I was encouraged to see the jobs numbers today. Where did I see those? That’s right, page D18 right after the real estate section. At least Reuters had it posted on their page. Not on the main part of the page, but tucked in under the headline: “Saudi Police, Militants Exchange Fire in Jeddah” Now that is amazing, I had no idea their were things like militants there in Iraq. How barbaric that must be. But, the jobs numbers are quite good. Just a month ago, Bush’s camp predicted a very strong recovery over the summer, and Kerry and the media immediately scoffed until they coughed. Well, so far we’re beating those numbers – hope that trend will continue. Time to enjoy the weekend, so I shall say Adios for now.
